Founded in 1915, General Tyre based in Fort Mill, South Carolina, can look back on a proud heritage spanning more than a century. Since the early days, the brand has been making tyres for all kinds of motor vehicles. The company was acquired by Continental in 1987. Today, operating worldwide, General Tyre manufactures tyres for cars, trucks and industrial applications, as well as specialty tyres for 4x4 vehicles.


In the 1920s  General Tyre revolutionised tyre manufacturing and became known as a technology leader with the invention of the low-pressure General   Balloon Jumbos. This was the first of many key innovations which position the company at the top of the industry’s premium tyre producers.

1930 seen the mass motorisation in the USA, General Tyre begins a process of international expansion by building a production line in Mexico.

In 1943 General Tyre discovers the carbon black latex-mixing masterbatch principle.

During 1955 General Tyre commences Original Equipment supply to General Motors and for other major automobile manufacturers.

Throughout 1959 General Tyre opened the world’s largest tyre testing track in Texas.

2000   Opening of a new European Distribution Warehouse. General Tyre decides to complete their product range and to keep the focus of a high-quality brand that is suited for tough and rough environment.

2018 Launch of the Grabber A/S 365, General Tyre’s first entry to SUV All Season market.
